Demi Lovato is in hospital after a suspected heroin overdose.

The Sorry Not Sorry singer was hospitalised on Tuesday in Los Angeles and is now in a stable condition.

TMZ, who was the first to report the news, said the 25-year-old was found unconscious and was treated at the scene with Naloxone, an anti-overdose medicine, after possibly taking heroin.

Lovato has struggled with substance abuse from a very early age. In June, the singer revealed that she had relapsed just months after celebrating six years of sobriety.

In Lovato’s 2017 album Tell Me You Love Me, her latest single Sober is about her drug addiction. “To the ones who never left me / We’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”

Lovato has had treatment for bipolar disorder and substance abuse. She spoke about her daily struggles with recovery in her 2017 YouTube original documentary Simply Complicated. In the documentary, Lovato opens up about using cocaine and quoting: “Last time I did an interview this long, I was on Cocaine”.

Lovato started her career as a child star, where she appeared on popular children’s show Barney & Friends and rose to fame on Disney Channel. In 2008, Lovato starred in Camp Rock alongside The Jonas Brothers.

Many of the singer’s friends took to Twitter sending their love and support.
