Red Hot Chili Peppers To Sell Entire Catalogue

Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are reportedly selling their entire back catalogue for a whopping price – upwards of $140 million.

This is reportedly the largest ever deal to date between Hipgnosis Songs Fund and an artist.

Some of the band’s biggest songs are included in the sale, including Under The Bridge, Give It Away andCalifornication.

Hipgnosis already owns the entire back catalogue of former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and 50 per cent (1,180 songs) of Neil Young’s music collection, which is said to have sold for an estimated $150 million.

In other news, since reuniting with former guitarist Josh Frusciante, RHCP are working on new music.

Frusciante, 54, rejoined the band in 2019 after more then ten years away, and discussed penning new music in October.

“We were rehearsing for a couple months, then the quarantine started, and we stopped rehearsing for a couple months, then we went back to rehearsing,” he said.

“We’re moving ahead with what we’re doing, writing new music.”
