The 72nd British Academy Film Awards have just been held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
For the second consecutive year, Joanna Lumley hosted the ceremony which honours the best British and international contributions to film.
Lumley opened with a joke mocking the Oscars.
“Thank goodness BAFTA actually has a host but I suspect that may have something to do with the fact I’m not on Twitter,” the actress said.
The first award of the night, Outstanding British Film, was presented to The Favourite and director Yorgos Lanthimos accepted it.
“This film took 20 years to make. I contributed to the last 10,” he said.
Australians Fiona Crombie and Tony McNamara won awards for their work on the film.
Crombie won in the Production Design category while McNamara won in the Original Screenplay Category.
Entering the night with 12 nominations, The Favourite won seven awards, including Best Actress which went to Olivia Colman, but Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma beat it and won Best Film.
Cuaron won four personal BAFTA awards for a single film from six personal nominations including Best Director and Cinematography.
Roma also won the award for Film Not in the English Language. Roma and The Favourite were big winners on the night.
Bradley Cooper scored one win with A Star is Born taking Best Original Music and Bohemian Rhapsody won in the Sound category.
Letitia Wright, a British-Guyanese actress won the only award voted for by the public, the EE Rising Star Award.
