Travis Scott Removed From 2022 Coachella Line-up

Following the controversial Astroworld Festival in November of 2021 which saw 10 deaths, 25 hospitalisations and over 300 festival goers treated on sight, Travis Scott has been dropped from the line-up of 2022’s Coachella.

The iconic music and arts festival was meant to act as a return to stage for the Sicko Mode rapper. However, a change.org petition signed by over 60,000 individuals has halted Scott’s return in its tracks.

The petition called for the removal of the rapper from the line-up, with festival producers Golden Voice adhering to the demands of outraged fans and opting to drop Travis Scott from the line-up completely.

Scott’s long time manager was adamant to keep the slot at Coachella following the tragic deaths and injuries caused by alleged poor mismanagement at Scott’s Astroworld Festival.

Golden Voice have opted to pay Scott a kill fee, which is 25% of his previously agreed upon payment for performing, which according to talent/celebrity booking service Celebrity Talent International, Scott charges $1.5 million to perform at a show, meaning that he will be given $375,000 of his total booking fee.

A replacement is yet to be announced at the time of writing, however, Swedish House Mafia and Rage Against The Machine are still slated to perform in 2022.

Scott’s Nike collaboration Nike Air Max 1 × Cactus Jack is also being postponed, with the rapper currently facing 300 lawsuits from festival goers and families of those impacted.

Travis sat down for his first interview since Astroworld with Charlemagne the God, and apologised to all those affected, claiming that he got in contact with the families of the 10 dead festival goers and offered to pay for their funerals. Many of them however refused his offer.
