Tom Holland Reportedly Threw His Name In The Ring To Play James Bond

Tom Holland

Tom Holland is undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s busiest actors. At 25-years-old, Holland already has 31 film, television and theatre credits under his belt, highlights being his role as Spiderman in the MCU.

Prior to his casting as Nathan Drake, from the critically acclaimed Uncharted video game series exclusive to PlayStation, he reportedly pitched the idea to play James Bond in an origin story.

Holland told Variety Magazine that he actually sat down with Sony and threw his own name into the ring to play cinema’s 007.

“I had a meeting, after or during [Spider Man: Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with,” said Holland.

He also added that the Bond estate was not particularly interested in his pitch. However, his interest in playing an iconic character in an origin story may possibly be the reason he was cast in the upcoming Uncharted film, alongside Mark Wahlberg.

“The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you could do a Nathan Drake story as an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. And that opened a conversation,” said Holland.

Not only is Holland reportedly set to star in three more Spider-Man films in the future, following the completion of his original trilogy of films in 2021, his role in Uncharted is also expected to turn into a franchise if the upcoming film is a success. Away from the action/superhero genre, Holland is also reportedly set to play iconic American actor, dancer, and singer, Fred Astaire, in a once-in-a-lifetime biopic.

Hollywood’s busiest actor is most likely about to get even busier in 2022 and beyond.
