Australia Set For Its First Royal Visitor Since 2018

Princess Anne To Visit Australia In April 2022

Whenever it is announced that a member of the royal family will be coming to Australia, there is always collective fanfare from the general public. The last time we had our shores graced with royal family members was the 2018 tour of the newly-married Meghan and Harry, who have since renounced their royal status and now live as commoners.

This year will see Queen Elizabeth’s daughter, Princess Anne, return to Australia as the guest of honour at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in April.

With her schedule still unknown (besides April 8; the date she will open the iconic Sydney Royal Easter Show), it has been speculated that her royal tour will see her travel across regional Australia.

The last time Princess Anne toured Australia was in 1988, when she opened the Sydney Royal Easter Show, as well as celebrated the nation’s bicentenary.

It is unclear how the flash floods will impact Princess Anne’s tour, however royal family members visiting Australia following natural disasters is nothing new.

Scott Morrison reportedly invited Prince William and Kate Middleton to Australia in February of 2020, following the 2019 bushfires. The alleged tour was cancelled following the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on international borders.

Princess Anne’s tour announcement has not reported any whispers concerning cancellation or rescheduling, so it is safe to assume that Australia is getting a royal tour in 2022.
