Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke has died at the age of 69.
Duke’s manager said that she died from an infection after suffering a ruptured Intestine.
The much loved actress shot to fame as the star of The Patty Duke Show, which began in the 1960s and lasted three seasons.
In 1982, Duke was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent her later years supporting mental health programs and taking care of her children.
Duke’s family released a statement confirming her death and calling her a “Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian and champion for mental health.”
Patty Duke is survived by her last husband, Michael Pearce and their son Kevin Pearce.
