Unfortunately Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has died at the age of 55.
Nintendo issued a short statement saying:
“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.”
He was reportedly forced to skip last year’s E3 due to his poor health. He underwent surgery soon after to remove the bile duct growth. He was progressing well a few months later, but unfortunately it caught up to him.
Rest in peace Mr. Iwata. You will be dearly missed.
