The man responsible for making us laugh during lockdown over the last two years is touring Australia in March, 2022.
Jimmy Rees, creator of the “Meanwhile in Australia” series, will kick off his national debut comedy tour at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre before heading to Adelaide’s Norwood Concert Hall, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Perth’s Astor Theatre and finishing at Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall.
In the lead up to his announcement on Instagram, Rees wrote:
“Dear Australia, What’s doing in March/April besides getting a booster? I’m sick of talking to myself on camera so I’m coming to a stage near you!! Don’t be like Jason, grab a chammmpaaaggnnee darling and together we can all be the Guy Who Decides. That’s right, I’m doing a comedy show and it’s called ‘Meanwhile in Australia’. Featuring the Guy Who Decides, The Ladies of Brighton, Meanwhile in Australia LIVE! (how am I gonna do that?!), a magpie, an earthquake, maybe the poop inspector…CORNN!!
“Over the past couple of years, you might have seen many random videos about many random things. This new show will be just as random.”
Rees has always been a beloved figure in Australian entertainment for over a decade. Between his appearances on ABC’s Giggle & Hoot, theatre appearances including the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, his multiple TV show appearances and his more recent YouTube and TikTok career, Rees has made Aussies young and old laugh uncontrollably for years, so it only makes sense for Rees to continue making us laugh with a comedy tour.
