When most people express gratitude, it’s with a thank-you card or maybe a small gift.
But not with Jim Carey, who apparently does it with the gift of a brand new car!
The legendary funny man is currently in Vancouver, shooting the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog. Carey decided to show his appreciation to the crew for all their hard work by holding a raffle, the top prize of which was a Chevy Blazer RS.
The car, which retails at around $US40,000, was won by a man who worked as a grip.
The Toronto native will return as the evil Dr. Robotnik for the sequel. In last year’s blockbuster, he starred as the villain intent on capturing Sonic to exploit the speedy blue hedgehog’s abilities for personal gain.
When we last saw Robotnik, he was expelled from Earth, but swore to return and exact revenge. Things could get tricky for Sonic, as his nemesis still possesses one of his quills.
The first film was one of the first films released on home systems when cinemas were shut due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Despite this, it went on to earn the Number One opening weekend for a film based on a video game.
And of course, before the film debuted, there was the kerfuffle over the title character’s design. After a barrage of fans complained about how Sonic looked in the original trailer, he was redesigned to look more like his classic self.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 also stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz and Tika Sumpter. Directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, it is set to premiere in April 2022.
