Jessica Mauboy To Represent Australia At Eurovision

Jessica Mauboy

Jessica Mauboy is Australia’s entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018.

Local broadcaster SBS just revealed that Mauboy will perform for Australia’s fourth year at the contest.

Mauboy represented Australia on the Eurovision stage for the first time as a half-time act in 2014, creating a pathway for the country to enter the contest the next year.

“Eurovision is a wonderfully joyous and unique event. It brings together over 40 diverse countries and cultures under one roof to unite as all in music. It shows how much the power of song can transcend differences,” Mauboy said in a statement.

“I will sing my heart out for Australia. I’m so proud to be officially representing my country and a little bit nervous, mainly about the stress of the dress!”

Australia has performed well at Eurovision the past three years, with Guy Sebastian achieving fifth place in 2015, Dami Im finishing 2nd in 2016 and Isaiah a Firebrace placing in the top 10 earlier this year.

Eurovision 2018 will be held in Lisbon, Portugal.
