Glenn Campbell

Country music singer Glen Campbell has unfortunately died at the age of 81.

His family has said that he had “a long and courageous battle” with Alzheimer’s disease.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather,” the family’s statement said.

Campbell released over 70 albums and sold 45 million records in his lifetime.

He paved the way for other country crossover artists such as Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

In 1965, he toured with the Beach Boys for three months, filling in for singer Brian Wilson, and he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
