Garry Shandling Dead At 66

Garry Shandling

Garry ShandlingAmerican comedian Garry Shandling has recently died at the age of 66, and the cause remains unknown.

The Los Angeles Fire Department says they received a call at 10.40am on Thursday near the location of Shandling’s residence.

He was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The news of his death is surprising as the actor, writer and producer was not suffering from any illnesses.

Earlier this week, The Larry Sanders Show star was spotted with former co-stars Kathy Griffin and Bob Odenkirk.

Shandling has been active in the industry since the 70s, getting his start as a writer on Sanford and Son before moving into stand-up comedy.

In 1992, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series for The Larry Sanders Show and has over a dozen other Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations under his belt.

His last onscreen credit was in 2014 during Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where he played a secret HYDRA agent and a senator. He also appeared in an episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, ironically titled, ‘It’s Great Garry Shandling is still alive.’

Shandling was a real innovator in his field and I only hope he rests in peace. Who else is devastated after hearing this sad news?
