Fergie performed the American National Anthem at the NBA All-Stars game yesterday and the reaction was amusing.
Typically singers that perform the national anthem, of any country, keep it simple. Fergie, however, went with a slower and ‘sexier’ version.
The camera caught the mixed expressions of those on the court and in the crowd. For some of the players, they had a hard time keeping it together.
People across social media also shared their reactions, some even doing their own versions of the performance.
She has since responded in a statement to PEOPLE saying, “I’ve always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the indented tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
