Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky will play the lead in Interceptor while her husband, Chris Hemsworth, takes a seat behind the camera.
Hemsworth will act as Executive Producer, but the film is not part of his four-movie contract with Netflix. That deal was announced after the streaming service revealed the actor’s latest action movie Extraction was watched by a whopping 99 million households.
Co-written and directed by internationally renowned novelist, Matthew Riley, the Action-Thriller will be his first crack at directing.
Pataky is more recently known for her role in the Fast and the Furious franchise and the Netflix drama Tidelands, about drug dealing mermaids.
The actress will play an army lieutenant in Interceptor that must save the world when 17 nuclear missiles are launched at the US.
The film is being produced in NSW, understood to be the old ABC studios in Artarmon, Sydney.
