Interview with Cascada

Cascada
Natalie Horler from German dance music act Cascada recently stopped by Rave It Up HQ to chat about their upcoming performance in Australia for the Wild Nights Tour.

Hey Natalie. Welcome to Rave It Up. Before we talk about your upcoming Australian tour, we’d love to get to you a little bit better and I think we should start from the beginning because that only makes sense to, right?

Cascada used to be called Cascade. How did you come up with both of these names?

I actually don’t know exactly what went wrong there, but this was before I was part of the whole thing. Yann and Manian started the project Cascada before I became the official face of it.

Cascada has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and was named the most successful German act of the 21st century and we all still love you, but I’m sure you have gotten your share of haters over the time. How do you deal with them?

IGNORE THEM! There’s no other way I’m afraid. My mum always said “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything.” Well, there’s never a real reason to hate on someone you’ve never met or insult someone on their looks and personality because you don’t like their music. It’s quite funny really. It did take a while to learn to ignore it though – the thick skin you need in this business takes a few years to build up.

You released Everytime We Touch in 2005 and Evacuate The Dancefloor in 2009. We all still love these songs and they are still being played to this day. Did you think they were going to be as big of a success?

Not at all. One just never knows what’s going to happen. We were very lucky it all turned out this way. The reason we can still tour so much is due to these hits.

We haven’t heard from you for a while. What have you been up to in that time?

If you follow my social media, you’ll see that I’m on stage and touring pretty much every weekend. I also did a TV show in Germany looking for the best choir last year, where I was on the judging panel. I had so much fun. So, haven’t really been gone! We haven’t released any records in a while, that’s true though.

In June, you will be coming to Australia for the Wild Nights Tour with DJ Sash, DJ Aligator, N-Trance and Love Inc. (with special guests Nick Skitz and MC Kidd Kaos). For those coming along, what can we expect from the show?

I’ll be playing a lot of our biggest hits, of course, and generally want to have a lot of fun with the audience. I always give 110% on stage, so hopefully everyone will have a good time.

This will be your first time to Australia too. What are you looking forward to most about your trip to Australia?

I still need to find out which sights I need to visit…this will be the first time being so far away from home. I’m excited to finally get to Australia, that’s for sure.

You’ll be travelling to Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Where are you most excited to visit?

As I don’t know anything about the places yet, I can only answer with “EVERYWHERE.”

Even though you have already achieved so much Natalie, what else can we expect from you in the future?

I think every artist that’s been around for a good while and is fortunate enough to still be working so much, never pushes the thought away, that one could come back with a new, big single. But times have changed a lot and it’s not an easy task to guess what will be popular nowadays. The music business has become extremely fast paced. I can assure you though, that I will continue to tour the world for as long as I can and people want to see me perform.

What advice would you give to our readers if they would like to follow their dreams of becoming a singer?

Work hard and don’t give up…a lot of luck is involved as well, so a strong will is important too.

As a closing statement and what is probably the most important question: Knowing what you know now, what would you tell your 14-year-old self?

Ha! I knew I could do it. It all paid off in the end.

And before we go, if the listeners would like to contact you or find out what you are up to, where should they go?

Feel free for everyone interested to follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter under cascada_official/cascada-official. Just look for the only Cascada account with the blue tick.

Thanks again for having a chat to us today Natalie.

It’s been a pleasure!
