Britney Spears’ conservatorship has finally been terminated after 13 years.
Following a public meltdown in 2007, Spears was placed in a conservatorship in 2008, which placed her father, Jamie Spears, as the sole person in charge of his daughter’s estate.
All parties apparently consented to termination. Britney was not present at the hearing.
The pop star’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, read Spears’ testimony, stating that her wish is for the conservatorship to end without evaluation.
“We have engaged in an orderly transition of power,” Rosengart explained.
Accountant John Zabel, who replaced Spears’ father Jamie following his suspension, will however have “limited and administrative power” moving forward.
His duties will include power of execution of the Estate trust and power to transfer assets outside of the trust into the trust.
Additional hearings have been set for December 8 and January 19.
