Bluesfest Will Not Happen In 2021

It has been announced that the Bluesfest Music Festival has been cancelled for this year.

The major festival was scheduled for October but will not proceed due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bluesfest Festival Director, Peter Noble released a statement.

“It is obvious that we cannot present Bluesfest in a safe manner in October, so we have re-scheduled back to our usual timing with dates over the Easter long weekend next year, a time we expect things to be returning to normal,” the statement read.

The event will return in April next year, three years on from when it last happened.

This year’s line-up included all Australian artists, and the headliners were Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly, Tash Sultana and Jimmy Barnes.

When the event does return, it hopes to showcase the same line-up.

Noble says the majority of this year’s proposed line-up will be on board for 2022, with “only two or three” artists unable to join for the new dates.

Tash Sultana, Ocean Alley, Ziggy Alberts and The Cat Empire are no longer locked in for Bluesfest 2022, though it remains to be seen if they will re-join at a later stage.

The festival plan to release new names who will take their place in the coming months.

Next year, the festival will run across four days, with a special event proposed for the Thursday, which has usually been the opening night of the festival.
