2016 Grammy Award Highlights

Grammy Awards

Grammy AwardsThe 58th Annual Grammy Awards featured many different highs and lows, as well as reinforcing the ways in which the music industry has changed the past year.

One of the biggest moments of the night was Kendrick Lamar’s Hip-Hop musical that paid tribute to the greats of Hip-Hop from New Orleans to Compton to Africa to N.W.A’s Express Yourself music video and closing with Lamar’s explosive arrangement of Alright which nabbed the Song of the Year award.

In the lead up to the Grammys, Lady Gaga spent her time getting a David Bowie inspired Aladdin Sane tattoo so it was no surprise how serious she was in her dedication to the late singer when she burst on stage dressed as Ziggy Stardust and sang a collaboration of his work in his honour.

Unfortunately, the glamour died a little when Adele came on stage to perform All I Ask as the sound mixing became problematic in the middle of her performance that made her sound out of tune.

The memorable win and moment for the night however, was Taylor Swift’s Album of the Year win for 1989. As the young singer came on stage for her acceptance speech, she shut down Kanye West’s attempt to claim her fame as his own in his song Famous and later performed her hit single Out of the Woods.
