Wonder Woman has become the highest grossing superhero origin story in the United States ever.
The film, directed by Patty Jenkins, beat out Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.
Wonder Woman was released on June 2 and has made an estimated USD 404, 008,376 million domestically, beating the original Spider-Man‘s log-held record of USD 403,706,375 million.
This is the first female-directed, live-action movie to cross USD 400 million domestic and USD 800 million worldwide.
The orginal Spinder-Man movie, starring Tobey Maguire, has held that spot since 2002. Last year’s Deadpool is the only movie that came close, missing the mark by about USD 40 million.
