Supergirl

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are in the early stages of a Supergirl film.

Oren Uziel, writer of 22 Jump Street has been hired to write the script. A producer has not yet been found.

Melissa Benoist has played Supergirl in the titular CW series, which is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, and is heading into its fourth season.

Supergirl first appeared in Action Comics #252, which followed Kara Zor-El who is sent to Earth by her parents to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, when the city she was born and raised in, Argo City, is doomed.

After the first three Superman movies, starring Christopher Reeve, producers spun off Supergirl into a 1984 film.

Helena Slater played Supergirl in the film and Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow, and Peter O’Toole also starred in it.

The launch of Supergirl comes eight months after Warner Bros. promoted Walter Hamada to oversee its comic book movies.
