REVIEW: Ocean’s 8

Ocean's 8

Doesn’t this film just represent girl power? Having eight of the most well-known ladies in a film working together has to be one of the best. It just comes to show that women can definitely do anything.

One huge event, eight ladies and one necklace! That is all the movie is about and to you, that may sound like nothing interesting but Oh Boy! You’re wrong.

This movie is the spin-off of Ocean’s 11, which had an all-male cast, while Ocean’s 8 has an all-female cast. Ocean’s 8 is a heist caper that looks gorgeous, keeps the twists coming and bounces along on a comic rhythm that’s impossible to resist.

Debbie Ocean (played by Sandra Bullock) is the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney’s character in Ocean’s 11) and the mastermind behind the whole idea of stealing the Toussaint, a $150 million Cartier necklace from the Met Gala. She puts together a team of seven remarkable women who are great at stealing (played by Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson and Mindy Kaling). Among all the females are also only two male actors. Comedian and talk show host James Corden and Richard Armitage.

Not only were there big names in the cast but there were many other big names who cameoed in the film, such as Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, Heidi Klum and many more.

Not only does this film have many twists and turns but also lots of glitzy fashion, bling and style. I mean it is the Met Gala after all!

Ocean's 8

After watching the trailer for this film, you could easily tell it was going to be a hit. Currently with the #MeToo Movement, this movie couldn’t have come at a better time representing female empowerment. Many people have said that their expectation were too high for the film and once they watch it they weren’t impressed. Some say that Ocean’s 13 was better than Ocean’s 8? What?! I think both were great, but I just love the idea of an all-female cast. I was really impressed not only with the massive line-up of big names but also with the plot of the film. The further you get into the movie, the more you don’t know what’s going to happen. Are they going to get caught or are they going to succeed? The storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. It’s amazing! Go watch it.

My favourite part of the movie would have to be from when the group starts their mission to get the necklace at the Met Gala and how everything was well planned. Now, I’m not going to go in to too much detail but that is definitely my favourite part of the movie.

Ocean’s 8 is a great film and I can see no faults. I enjoyed it from start to finish, so I would give it a 10 out of 10. This movie definitely has to be in my top 5 favourite movies of all time.

Rating: 10/10
