REVIEW: Black Panther

I had mixed feelings about seeing Black Panther this week but I’m glad I saw it. I can absolutely understand why it made $200 million on its opening weekend in the U.S.

This film actually took me by surprise. I don’t think the trailer does it justice. Whether you are into superheroes or not, this movie will leave you wanting more. I really hope they make a sequel now…and that’s saying something.

Black Panther

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman and Forest Whitaker. You can already see that this movie has some incredible actors so it could have gone either way. It could have been absolutely terrible or amazing.

Except for Captain America: Civil War, I haven’t seen Chadwick Boseman in any other movies but he really impressed me. From his good looks to his incredible acting, where he can cry on cue, I fell in love with him more with every scene. I found myself missing him in the scenes he wasn’t featured in. That’s a little sad, isn’t it? I will definitely be watching Boseman in more films now.

Black Panther

I already really like Michael B Jordan and he plays a villain in this film. I have to say, he did a good job. It was convincing but I also don’t think a villain role suits him. After watching his movies like Creed and That Awkward Moment, I can’t see him in a bad boy role, but kudos to Jordan for taking on the role and making it his own. Knowing him, he’ll surprise with future roles. No matter what, he’s always got my support.

Black Panther

Martin Freeman really added a kind of spark to the film. He made a few scenes funny, which is sometimes what you need in a serious movie to lighten it all up. Freeman and Letitia Wright (who plays T’Challa aka the Black Panther’s sister) made the movie humorous.

As a superhero movie, I’m sure a lot more men are going to the cinemas to watch this, but ladies, you’ll get something out of it too. Not only a beautiful message of communities and families coming together in times of need, but also the eye candy. From the men’s handsome faces to their killer bods. You definitely do not want to miss out on looking at their abs, let me tell you.

Black Panther

I have two favourite scenes in this movie. The first one is when Michael B Jordan’s character, Erik Killmonger takes over the museum to steal the artifacts that belong to the African nation of Wakanda. It was all done so well. So smooth and effortless. A heist planned extremely well. Make sure to look out for that scene when you watch the film.

My second favourite scene is when the Black Panther’s sister shows her brother all of his cool new gadgets, including a suit that harnesses the energy hitting it so that it can hit back harder. It has to be seen to get the real effect of what I’m talking about but take my word for it, its awesome!

Black Panther

The only scene I didn’t really enjoy was a fight scene at the beginning of the movie. It was way too dark and hard to see what was going on. I understand that the Black Panther needs to be black and dark to hide amongst the shadows but while guns are going off as well, it shouldn’t be that hard to see. When you watch the Dark Knight trilogy, you can see every action scene no matter if it is dark or not. I think it is just something that could have been done better in this film.

Black Panther

This is a long movie, just warning you, but I think it needs to be otherwise you wouldn’t get the whole story and you wouldn’t fall in love with the characters as much as you do. There is a flashback scene at the beginning and it all connects at the end but it definitely keeps you waiting throughout.

Also, quick note. Stay behind at the end of the movie and watch the credits because it’s a Marvel movie and we all know what that means. Two extra scenes! You definitely do not want to miss! It ties all of the upcoming Marvel movies together.

Have fun when you go and watch this movie with your family and friends, and of course comment below and let us know what you think afterwards.
