Predictions: NSW Origin Team

With game 1 of the Origin series drawing near, the question on everyone’s mind is who will coach Laurie Daley pick for his NSW team?

There will be some players that are almost certainties to play such as Paul Gallen, Greg Bird, Josh Morris, James Tamou, David Klemmer and Aaron Woods. NSW will have a strong pack of forwards this year and in which I feel will be way too big and strong for the QLD Maroons to handle.

There are rumours that Daley will select returning Mitchell Pearce in the halves and James Maloney or Adam Reynolds to most likely join him. Another possibility is in form Sharks player Jack Bird.

I personally believe that NSW need to pick a new breed of players for this series’ fresh, young new talent. This will include the likes of Matt Moylan (Panthers), Bryce Cartwright (Panthers) and James Tedesco (Tigers). Every year, a very similar team has been picked for the NSW team, despite losing 8 series in a row! At the start of QLDs 8-year origin winning streak back in 2006, their team consisted of 10 new players on their side.

Game 1 of the NRL State of Origin series will kick off on June 1 in NSW at ANZ Stadium.

Can they restore pride in the blue jersey’s humiliated defeat last year?

Below is my NSW Origin team:

Matt Moylan
Blake Ferguson
Josh Morris
Josh Dugan
Josh Mansour
James Maloney
Adam Reynolds
James Tamou
Michael Ennis
Aaron Woods
Paul Gallen
Greg Bird
Luke Lewis

Interchange
14) Andrew Fifita
15) David Klemmer
16) Jack Bird
17) Bryce Cartwright
