Midnight Oil To Reunite For 2017 World Tour

Midnight Oil

Australian rock band Midnight Oil will reunite for a world tour this year.

The original members including vocalist Peter Garrett, drummer Rob Hirst, bass guitarist Andrew James and guitarist Jim Moginie will come together for The Great Circle 2017 World Tour.

The iconic band announced their tour at a press conference held on a boat in Sydney Harbour this morning.

They will play thirty shows across the globe, ending with a national tour, with 18 dates scheduled in October and November.

This tour will be the first in 15 years and their largest since the 90s.

During their 26-year career, Midnight Oil won 11 ARIA Awards and were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

They famously disbanded in 2002 when Garrett announced he was quitting the music industry to focus on his political career.

This year’s World Tour includes many Australian special guests including The Living End, John Butler Trio, Birds of Tokyo, The Jezebels, Spiderbait and Something For Kate who will accompany the band at various venues.
