Margot Robbie is set to star in the upcoming live-action Barbie movie.
The 28-year-old is set take over the role if the project moves from Sony to Warner Bros. The role was previously linked to Anne Hathaway and Amy Schumer.
Not only will Robbie star in the movie, she will also produce the film through her LuckyChap production company.
The director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins has been said to be the director but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The movie will be about the main character being expelled from Barbie Land after failing to live up to the perfection expected. Amy Schumer was the first actress linked to the role back in 2016 but later pulled out due to “scheduling conflicts.”
The 37-year-old said that she was totally “bummed” to drop out of the live-action Barbie film.
“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to ‘Barbie’ due to scheduling conflicts. The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed but look forward to seeing ‘Barbie’ on the big screen,” Schumer said.
The release date of the movie has been pushed back to 2020.
