Disney is releasing a new streaming service called Disney+, and on it will be a reboot of the iconic Lizzie McGuire show we all loved so much.
The show will be based around Lizzie as she lives her dreams in New York City, although with some major twists.
Hilary Duff reprises her role as Lizzie and at the moment, she is the only confirmed returning cast member.
This show will follow a 30-year-old Lizzie who is working as an apprentice to an Interior Designer.
Hilary is super excited to come and reboot the show that changed her life.
“I’m so excited too as a fan. The response has been insane. We’re back. The band’s back together!
“Lizzie’s 30 now and I really like the idea of her waking up on her 30th birthday and being like, ‘This isn’t where I thought I was going to be.’”
At first talk of the show, Hilary admitted that it was just not a good time, but out of nowhere, she walked into Disney looking “very pregnant” and told them that she felt “really good” about starring in a reboot.
“I know that people have heard whispers for a long time: ‘Is it going to happen? Could it happen? Is it a possibility?’ I’ve had the questions for so long and been in talks with Disney for a really long time about it, and right now just felt like the right time. We’re in the thick of getting started over here.”
As Lizzie helped that generation through a lot of times, good and bad, Hilary hopes she can continue that in her reprisal of the iconic character, just more for the grown-up, adult side of life.
“My life has taken a few different forms and my moment wasn’t on my 30th birthday, but it was definitely mid-20s, with a kid, already being like, ‘Oh, this isn’t going to look how I thought it was going to look.’ I really want to tap into that. She’s everyone’s best friend and what everyone loves about her is how relatable she is, so I really wanna go on that 30-year-old journey with everybody.”
