One of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses Jennifer Lawrence is taking a year off from Hollywood to spend time as an activist.
The 27-year-old Oscar winner and star of The Hunger Games is encouraging more young people to be “engaged politically.”
Lawrence is set to spend a year working with the group Represent.Us along with the director David O Russell.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan politics. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy,” she said.
Lawrence is on the final leg of a global tour promoting her latest film Red Sparrow.
She participated in the Women’s March in Los Angeles last month and was also one of the first actresses to address the Hollywood wage gap in 2015.
