Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is engaged to her boyfriend of eight months, Cooke Maroney.
A rep for Jennifer, 28, confirmed on Tuesday night that Maroney, a New York art gallery director, popped the question.
A picture has now surfaced, showing what is thought to be the first glimpse of Jennifer’s sparkling engagement ring.
In the image, taken weeks before she confirmed the engagement, the actress is seen smiling widely, while sporting a yellow gold band set with a huge jewel.
Further images, taken on Sunday, show the gold band of the ring on her wedding finger, with the jewel seemingly turned inwards, as the couple left a dinner with friends at Raoul’s in New York.
A source, who reportedly witnessed the scene, said the couple and the friends they were with, were definitely celebrating something.
The star’s representative confirmed the engagement to multiple outlets late on Tuesday, after rumours began to spread.
“It was a giant rock. They seemed like they were celebrating, and people were talking about it,” the source said.
“The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner. She was wearing a cute black dress with white polka dots.”
Cooke, 34, works at New York’s Gladstone Gallery, which represents artists including Carroll Dunham, Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor, and Bjork’s ex, Matthew Barney.
He is an art history graduate from New York University and has previously worked at the prestigious Gagosian gallery.
While he is now very much part of the New York social scene, Cooke, like his new fiancée, grew up in the countryside, spending his childhood on his parent’s dairy farm in Vermont.
