City Origin v Country Origin Preview

Scully Park, Tamworth
Sunday May 7 2016
Kick off 4:10pm AEDT

You have to question how long the City v County Origin game will continue to be played after Brad Fittler’s City Origin side was named with six of their players playing less than 20 NRL first grade games. Five eighth Aidan Sezer, forward Bryce Cartwright and Penrith winger Josh Mansour are the only stand out contenders for a Blues jersey in their team. City haven’t won their past three games against Country, so it will be interesting so see how they will go up against a very impressive looking Country team.

However, Country will head into Sunday afternoon’s game with a strong and experienced lineup.
It will be interesting to see how Cronulla Sharks’ players James Maloney and Jack Bird approach the game as they pair up in the halves. Both Tyson Frizell and Boyd Cordner will be looking to impress with big performances as they fight for a spot in the NSW Blues origin team.

You can expect a high scoring game with the past two City Country games exceeding 52 points. With Country being undefeated against City in the past three matches played, I feel they will be too strong and given their experience, should have a comfortable win on Sunday afternoon.

Could this be the last City v Country Origin game played? What are your thoughts? Let us know by commenting below.

The match can be viewed live from Channel 9 at 4:00pm AEDT
