At 72 years of age, Cher is showing no signs of slowing down, but she has hinted at retirement.
The legendary singer released her first new album in five years on Friday and it is a collection of ABBA covers dubbed Dancing Queen.
In a recent interview with People, Cher said that she knows she can’t perform forever, but she still doesn’t know yet when the end may be.
“I just don’t know when it’s gonna be. You can’t do it forever. There’s a finite amount of time.
“That’s the thing that makes life scary and makes things possible — you just don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
The Emmy, Grammy and Oscar-winning performer has wanted to perform ever since she was four years old and she finds it so funny when the media report that ‘Cher’s on her way out, this is it for her career.’ Her career has definitely had some “real ups and downs.”
After a career that has spanned more than 50 years, she admits, “It can get exhausting being Cher,” especially since she’s older and “still doing the same things.”
“But I still have a great time,” Cher added. “To have the stamina, and also to have the audience.
“You forget that people just do regular jobs that they don’t get applause for,’ she concluded.’
Along with her international tour and new album, Cher also has a jukebox musical based on her life called The Cher Show debuting on Broadway on December 3.
