A man was arrested at Cher’s Malibu home on Thursday afternoon.
Ventura County detectives were called to the Malibu mansion after learning that a 23-year-old man, who happens to be Cher’s assistant’s son, was linked to a recent drug overdose that occurred in Thousand Oaks, California.
“The target of the search warrant is Donovan Ruiz,” Sgt. Eric Buschow confirmed.
“His arrest is related to a narcotics overdose that occurred within the last two weeks.”
According to police, Ruiz happens to live at the residence.
Captain Garo Kuredjian, from Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, has said that investigators are determined that Ruiz is responsible for supplying narcotics to a victim, who died of an overdose in September.
While the arrest was made at Cher’s mansion, Sgt. Buschow has said that the American singer has nothing to do with the incident.
Ruiz has been taken into custody while investigators are still at the scene.
Cher was not home when the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. The 72-year-old singer is currently on tour in Australia.
