Captain Marvel

Get excited Marvel fans! A sequel to Captain Marvel is officially happening!

Carol Danvers, known as Captain Marvel, joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year. Captain Marvel was the seventh MCU movie to cross $1 billion and the first female-led superhero movie to hit that milestone.

At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that a sequel was in development. Until now, not much has been said about the project; but now it’s been confirmed that not only is the next instalment moving forward, but it already has some talent attached.

Megan McDonnell, whose already working on the MCU Disney+ series WandaVision, has been reportedly tapped to pen the Captain Marvel 2 script. McDonnell is in final negotiations to come on board the project.

While plot details for the sequel have not been revealed as yet, it has been confirmed that rather than being set in the past like its predecessor, this story will take place in the present day.

The sequel will not have the first film’s directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. However, they are reportedly in discussions to stay in the MCU and possibly direct a Disney+ series. T

The film is aimed for a 2022 release. The studio has February 18, July 29, and October 7 of that year carved out for other projects, which leaves a few slots open for Captain Marvel 2.
