Aretha Franklin Dies At 76

Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin has unfortunately died at the age of 76. This week, she was surrounded by her loved ones while in hospice care at her home in Detroit.

The Queen of Soul has been battling cancer and other health problems over the years. Back in 2010, she was diagnosed with cancer.

In 2011, the singer had previously denied that she had cancer when she told Access Hollywood, “I don’t know where ‘pancreatic cancer’ came from.”

“I was sitting there reading the newspaper and it was saying someone in my family said that. No one in my family ever said that to anybody,” Franklin said.

“He (the doctor) said, ‘The surgery that you just had is going to add 15 to 20 more years to your life’.”

The legendary singer’s most recent performance was at Elton John AIDS Foundation party in New York last November. The singer last performed in November 2017 and since then, has cancelled two shows scheduled for April and March this year.
