Andy Cohen has become a father to a baby born on Monday.
The baby boy was born via surrogate on Monday night and is named Benjamin Allen, after Cohen’s maternal grandfather.
Cohen, who hosts Watch What Happens Live, announced the happy news with a black and White photo of himself holding his son on Instagram.
“I’m in love and speechless and eternally grateful to an incredible surrogate and I’m a dad. Wow,” the 50-year-old captioned the photo.
He first announced that he was expecting a child via surrogate on an episode of WWHL surrounded by cast members of the Real Housewives franchise.
“Tonight, I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, a fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time I’m going to become a father,” he shared.
“Thanks to a wonderful surrogate who is carrying my future. Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something that I have wanted in my heart for my entire life. And though it’s taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet.”
A source revealed that after the broadcast, a small group of people went out to celebrate and Cohen “was telling people that he was ‘relieved’ the news was finally out there and just kept reiterating how excited he was for the future.”
“He’s going to be an amazing dad. He’s so filled with love. He’s going to give this child a wonderful life,” the source said.
